Since 1910 the festival celebrates the rich Arab-Berber heritageofthe region. Douz is the gateway to the Sahara.

 

It is through herthat many cultures and generationsof nomadsand conquerors passed through.

 

The Mrazigs tribe will welcome you with a rich programand varied that will allow you to better appreciate the different facets of Bedouin life. It is on a backdrop made up of dunesof sand that you will discover the traditions of the region;from the traditional wedding to the mehari races passingby camel fights.

 

Festival-goers will have the opportunity to discover the rich local artthan captivating with exhibits, live musicand a fairbooks and documentary screenings.

 

The coolness of winter will contrast with the gentle warmth of the sunwhich shines on the emblematic tree of the region, the date palm.

 

During the four days of the festival, the Festival International de Douz, invites you to discover the habits and customs of Berber culturesand Arabic.

 

The festival agenda will appeal to all tastes; art lovers,culture, music, sports, history, nature and eventhoselooking for a haven of peace to meditate and enjoymajestic landscapes.

FESTIVAL PROGRAM

 

Day 1

  • Departure at 7:30 am from your place of stay in Djerba and direction Douz.

  • Arrival in Douz, free time and lunch at the restaurant.

  • Departure to attend the International Festival of the Sahara.

  • Dinner and night in your accommodation.


Day 2

  • After breakfast, departure for the city center of Douz to see the morning entertainment.

  • Departure for Matmata via Tamezret.

  • Lunch at the inhabitant in Tamezret.

  • Visit of a troglodyte house in Matmata (Sets of the Star Wars film).

  • Departure for Djerba via Medenine.

  • Deposit at your place of stay in Djerba at the end of the afternoon.
