From Tataouine to Chenini, Douiret and Ksar Ghilane, before reaching the troglodyte dwellings of Matmata, discover an authentic itinerary combining Berber heritage, desert landscapes and the traditions of southern Tunisia.
A journey through Berber villages, oases and desert
On the first day, head towards the Tataouine region and the Dahar mountains to discover some of the most impressive Berber ksars in southern Tunisia.
You will visit Ksar Ouled Soltane and Ksar Beni Barka, two remarkable examples of traditional Berber architecture.
After lunch in Guermassa and a guided visit to the Berber village of Chenini, a two-hour hike through the mineral landscapes of the Dahar will lead you to the troglodyte village of Douiret.
You will spend the night in an authentic troglodyte guesthouse in one of Tunisia’s most beautiful Berber villages.
On the second day, travel into the desert towards the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, the gateway to the Tunisian Sahara.
Enjoy the natural hot spring, explore the dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental and, for the more adventurous, choose a camel ride or a quad excursion through the desert.
At sunset, settle into your Saharan camp for an unforgettable evening beneath the stars.
After a traditional dinner, enjoy the peace and magic of the Tunisian desert.
On the third day, after breakfast at the camp, depart for Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses carved into the rock.
After visiting a traditional troglodyte home and enjoying lunch with a local family, continue your discovery of the Dahar with a stop in the Berber village of Toujane, perched on the mountainside and renowned for its breathtaking views.
In the late afternoon, return to Djerba, Zarzis or Gabès with unforgettable memories of three days spent among Berber villages, Saharan oases, desert landscapes and the traditions of southern Tunisia.

Day 1:

Pick up at your place of stay at 7:30 am.

Departure towards Tataouine by the Roman road.

Visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane, a magnificent Berber granary.

Visit of Ksar Beni Barka, another architectural marvel.

Lunch in a restaurant in the village of Guermassa.

Guided tour of the village of Chenini and 2 hour hike in the mountains to the village of Douiret.

Installation, dinner and night in a troglodyte lodge.
Day 2:

Visit the village of Douiret to discover its unique heritage.

Departure towards Ksar Ghilane by the track or the road depending on the season.

Free time in the oasis to visit the places and bathe in the hot spring.

Lunch in a restaurant located at the foot of the dunes.

Departure by the track towards the camp to spend the night under a private tent in the heart of the desert.
Day 3:

Departure for Matmata and visit of a troglodyte house at the inhabitant.
