During this private tour, you will explore Chenini, Ksar Ouled Soltane, Matmata and Tamezret, before enjoying an unforgettable evening in a Sahara desert camp, beneath a sky full of stars.

2-DAY PROGRAMME - KSOUR, MATMATA & OVERNIGHT STAY IN THE DESERT
Day 1: Dahar & Ksour – Oasis and Dunes

Early departure from your accommodation for a captivating drive through semi-desert landscapes.

The first stop is the salt lake, where changing colours and wide open views create a striking natural scene, ideal for photography.

Continue to Ksar Ouled Soltane, one of the most impressive and best-preserved Berber granaries in Southern Tunisia.

You will then head towards Chenini, a hilltop Berber village overlooking the surrounding mountains and valleys. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant in Guermassa.

In the afternoon, arrival at the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, a symbolic gateway to the Sahara, where the rocky desert gradually gives way to golden dunes.
On site, you may choose to enjoy optional desert activities:

Camel ride: €15/hour

Quad biking in the dunes: €30/hour
These activities are paid locally and do not require advance booking.
Evening and night under the desert stars at the Saharan camp:

In the evening, settle into your comfortable private tent at the Sahara camp, with real bedding and a peaceful desert atmosphere.

You will also attend a traditional demonstration of bread baked in the sand.

Dinner is served under the stars, followed by time to walk through the dunes and enjoy the silence of the desert.
Day 2: Matmata and Tamezret - Traditions, Troglodyte Houses and Tunisian Hospitality

Breakfast at the desert camp.

Departure towards Matmata, famous for its traditional troglodyte houses carved into the ground. Some of these unique dwellings were also used as filming locations for the Star Wars saga.

You will then enjoy an authentic lunch in the village of Tamezret, where you will be welcomed by a local family for a traditional meal and a warm introduction to Tunisian hospitality.

Visit the Berber village of Toujane, known for its mountain setting and beautiful views.
Return via Medenine:

In the late afternoon, arrival back at your accommodation, with unforgettable memories of Southern Tunisia.

Regarding equipment, you should bring in a bag (it's better for sand):

A flashlight or headlamp, as well as towels (not provided at the Saharan camp).

For the evening, in winter, bring warm clothes as it can get very chilly at this time of year.

If you are sensitive to the cold, for camping we recommend sports tracksuits for sleeping and if you need to go out at night.
