PROGRAM OF THE DOUZ AND MATMATA EXCURSION

06:00: Departure from your place of stay in Zarzis. It is best to leave early in the morning to enjoy the day.
10am: Arrival in Douz, also called the "Gateway to the Sahara". It is an excellent starting point for exploring the Sahara Desert.
Coffee break and free time in the souk. The livestock market is on Thursday.
For a typical experience, go for a camel ride in the desert. You can also enjoy incredible views of the sand dunes.
Lunch at the restaurant. You can try the local cuisine which includes dishes like couscous, Tunisian tajine, or "brik à l'oeuf".
After lunch, departure for Matmata. This city is famous for its troglodyte houses.
Matmata also served as a setting for the film "Star Wars".
In Matmata, visit a traditional troglodyte house and discover how the locals lived in these unique dwellings.
