This village has also been used as a setting for some scenes in the Star Wars saga, making it a popular destination for fans of the series. Douz, nicknamed the "gateway to the Sahara", is a must-see stop on your tour. In the past, it was the most important oasis in the region and a stopover for caravans on their journeys between the Sahara and northern Tunisia. Every year in December, Douz hosts the International Sahara Festival, a unique event showcasing Saharan culture. The Chott El Jerid is a Salt Lake that stretches for nearly a hundred kilometers from east to west. Tozeur, located northwest of Chott El Jerid, is one of the emblematic oases located at the gateway to the Sahara Desert. This city has an important religious past and is known for its scholars. Tozeur is also renowned for its date production, with an annual production of 35,000 tons, of which 4,000 tons come from organic farming. The Deglet Nour (Finger of Light) variety accounts for two-thirds of the region's date production. On your tour, you will have the opportunity to discover these natural and cultural wonders, exploring Tozeur and admiring the fascinating landscapes of Chott El Jerid. Chebika, Tamerza and the Midès Canyon are three emblematic mountain oases of Tunisia. Located about an hour's drive northwest of Tozeur, Chebika is an oasis nestled on the arid mountainside. With its steep-sided gorges, Chebika offers a spectacular landscape of the surrounding desert. If you climb up to the mausoleum, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Salt Lake (chott), the oasis and the surrounding mountains. Tamerza, on the other hand, is nestled in a small valley surrounded by mountains. Its captivating lunar landscape is made up of jagged massifs and palm trees bathed by the wadi (river). Tamerza is famous for its waterfalls where water gushes out of the rocks, creating a magical atmosphere. Some scenes from the movie "The English Patient" were filmed in this picturesque area. Finally, Mides clings to the edge of a canyon and offers breathtaking views of fossils and colorful minerals. The modern village of Midès is located in the heart of a palm grove that provides dates, oranges and figs. This place was also used as a set for scenes in the film "The English Patient" and "Fort Saganne". Chenini, located 18 km west of Tataouine, is a beautiful site and one of the most visited in the region. Perched on a ridge, you will discover remarkable troglodyte dwellings, built into the rock. You will be amazed by the beauty and grandeur of this historic building. Finally, Ksar Hadada, located 5 km north of Ghomrassen, was used as a set for the film "Star Wars" in 1999.
