TOZEUR EXCURSION MATMATA AND KSAR GHILANE
FROM TOZEUR TO MATMATA AND KSAR GHILANE:
NIGHTS IN TROGLODYTIC COTTAGE AND SAHARAN CAMP
THREE DAY TOUR
We will pick you up at your place of stay in Tozeur and begin our adventure.
We will cross the Chott El Jerid in the direction of Matmata, where you will have the opportunity to visit a troglodyte house with the locals.
You will be able to discover the unique architecture of these dwellings dug into the ground and learn more about the daily life of the inhabitants.
After the visit, we will share a delicious lunch with the locals,
where you can taste traditional dishes of the region.
Then we will leave for Chenini, a traditional Berber village.
A guided tour will allow you to discover the picturesque alleys
and the stone houses of this fortified village.
Then, you will have the opportunity to take a 2-hour walk in the mountains to reach the village of Douiret, enjoying the magnificent landscapes.
Once you arrive in Douiret, you will be settled in a troglodyte lodge
where you will spend the night.
The panoramic view from the cottage is magnificent.
You can relax and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of this traditional accommodation.
Dinner will be served on site, allowing you to savor local delicacies and enjoy a peaceful evening.
On the second day, after breakfast, we will leave towards
from Tataouine.
Our first stop will be the visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane, a magnificent example of defensive architecture.
You can explore the courtyards and chambers of this impressive ksar.
We will then have a lunch break in a restaurant in the village.
de Guermassa, where you can taste regional specialities.
Then we will continue our route to Ksar Ghilane, taking the track or the road depending on the season.
Once you arrive, you will have free time to visit the hot spring
and bathe in its soothing waters.
You will also have the option of taking an optional quad or camel ride, for an even more immersive experience.
We will then leave towards the camp in the desert,
where you will spend the night in a private tent.
You can enjoy dinner under the stars and soak up
of the magical atmosphere of the desert.
On the third day, after a peaceful awakening and breakfast, you will have free time to relax and enjoy the surrounding dunes.
Then, we will leave in the direction of Douz, taking the track
or the road depending on the season.
In Douz, we will share a lunch before visiting the irrigation system of the palm grove, which is vital for the cultivation of dates in
the region.
You can also discover the petrified dunes, a unique geological curiosity.
Finally, we will return to Tozeur crossing the Chott El Jerid again, and you will be dropped off at your place of stay.

Day 1

Pick up at your place of stay in Tozeur.

Departure by Chott El Jerid for Matmata, visit of a troglodyte house at the inhabitant.

Departure for Chenini,

Guided tour of the village of Chenini and 2 hours of walking in the mountains to reach the village of Douiret.

Installation and dinner in a troglodyte gite.
Day 2

Departure towards Tataouine.

Visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane.

Lunch break in a restaurant in the village of Guermassa.

Departure for Ksar Ghilane by track or road depending on the season.

Free time for visit and bath in the hot spring.

Departure by the track for the camp, demonstration of the baking of sand bread.

Dinner and overnight in a private tent in the desert.
Day 3

Wake up, breakfast and quiet time in the desert.
