PROGRAM OF DOUZ AND MATMATA EXCURSION

  • 06h00: Departure from your place of stay in Djerba.It is best to leave early in the morning to enjoy the day.

​

  • 10 am: Arrival in Douz, also called the "Gateway to the Sahara". It is an excellent starting point for exploring the Sahara Desert.

​

  • Coffee break and free time in the souk. The cattle market is on Thursday.

​

  • For a typical experience, depart for a camel ride in the desert. You will also be able to enjoy an incredible view of the sand dunes.

​

  • Lunch at the restaurant. You can try the local cuisine which includes dishes like couscous, Tunisian tagine, or "egg brik".

​

  • After lunch, departure for Matmata. This town is famous for its cave houses. Matmata also served as the setting for the movie "Star Wars".

​

  • In Matmata, visit a traditional troglodyte house and discover how the locals lived in these unique dwellings.
