The first day of our excursion promises you total immersion in the beauty and magic of the Tunisian desert.
We will leave your place of stay in Gabes in the early morning, aboard our 4x4s specially equipped to face the desert tracks.

The journey itself will be an adventure, with changing landscapes ranging from arid plains to majestic dunes.

Our destination is Ksar Ghilane, a secluded and enchanting oasis in the heart of the desert. Upon arrival, you will be immediately captivated by the spectacular sight of the golden sand dunes surrounding the oasis.

Once installed, you will have the option of choosing an optional camel or quad ride to explore the dunes and feel the feeling of freedom that the desert provides.

We will then take the time to savor a delicious lunch, prepared with local products and traditional flavors.

In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to bathe in the hot spring of Ksar Ghilane, renowned for its thermal virtues. Let yourself be enveloped by the soothing warmth of the water and relax in this unique natural setting.

The highlight of the day will be the late afternoon desert adventure. We will board our 4x4s for an exploration of the sandy tracks, admiring the magnificent sunset over the dunes.

We will then arrive at the Saharan camp, where you will spend an unforgettable night under the stars.
The private tents will offer you all the necessary comfort for a peaceful night in the heart of the desert.
You will be enchanted by the warm and friendly atmosphere of the camp.

On the second day, wake up early to watch the sunrise over the desert, a breathtaking experience. Immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of this magical moment where the colors of the sky mingle with the golden sands of the desert.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the Saharan camp, you will still have free time to explore the surroundings, walk in the dunes and take memorable photos.
Take one last deep breath to soak up the unique atmosphere of the desert.
Then we will take the road again towards Matmata, a region famous for its troglodyte houses.
You will be amazed by visiting one of these houses dug into the rock, testifying to the ingenuity of the inhabitants who knew how to adapt to this hostile environment.
You will also have the opportunity to discover the region's characteristic lunar landscape, which has also served as the setting for several films, including Star Wars.
For lunch, we will stop in the Berber village of Tamezret, where you will be warmly welcomed by the locals.
You will have the opportunity to taste the delights of Tunisian cuisine, prepared with fresh and local ingredients.
It is a unique opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of the region and to share a friendly moment with the locals.
Finally, we will take the road back to Gabès, in the afternoon, taking with you lasting memories of this adventure in the desert of Ksar Ghilane.

 PROGRAM

Day 1

  • Departure from your place of stay in Gabes at 7:30 a.m. in a 4x4.

  • Visit of the Ksar of Medenine. old attics with honeycomb shapes,

  • Visit of the Tataouine spice market on Thursday.

  • Guided tour of the Berber village of Chenini. 

  • Lunch.

  • Road to Ksar Ghilane, oasis surrounded by huge sand dunes. 

  • Optional camel ride 15€/h or quad 30€/h.

  • Bathing in the hot spring,

  • Departure by the track for the night in the desert, towards the Saharan camp.

  • Sandbread baking ceremony, and free time in the dunes.

  • Dinner and overnight in private tents.

 

Day 2

  • Breakfast and free time in the dunes.

  • Departure for Matmata via Berber village of Tamezret 

  • Lunch with locals in Talezret.

  • Visit to Matmata of a troglodyte house and discovery of the lunar landscape offered by the region 

  • Return to your place of stay in Gabes around 5:30 p.m.
