Let yourself be tempted by this exceptional three-day excursion, which will make you discover the best of Tunisian culture and nature.
Your adventure will begin with a trek between the perched Berber villages of Chenini and Douiret, where you will be impressed by the beauty of the landscapes and the richness of the local history.
At the end of the day, you will enjoy a traditional dinner in a troglodyte lodge, an authentic experience that will immerse you in the life of the inhabitants of the region.
You will spend the night in these troglodyte dwellings, carved into the rock, which will offer you unexpected comfort and a unique nighttime experience.
The second day, you will leave for a discovery of the Tunisian desert, with its majestic dunes and its breathtaking landscapes.
As an option, a camel ride will allow you to appreciate the tranquility and splendor of the Sahara. At the end of the day, you will reach a Saharan camp where you will enjoy dinner at the camp restaurant.
You will spend the night in your private Saharan tent, a magical experience in the heart of the desert.
On the third day, after breakfast at the camp, we will leave for Matmata where scenes from the movie Star Wars were filmed, where we will have lunch with the locals, before taking the road back to Djerba.
This excursion promises you total immersion in Tunisian culture and breathtaking landscapes, for unforgettable memories of your trip.
Matmata, a unique village with fascinating cave dwellings.
We will discover the traditional houses dug into the side of the mountain, organized around a central well.
You will have the opportunity to visit the different rooms, including the bedrooms, the kitchen, the sheepfold, the stable and the attic.
We will also visit the Berber Museum of Matmata, which presents the history, culture and traditions of the Berber peoples.
After exploring Matmata, we'll have lunch at a homestay in Tamezret, giving you a unique chance to sample local cuisine and further immerse yourself in Berber culture.
In the afternoon, on the way back to Djerba, we will stop at Toujane, a beautiful village nestled in the Jebel du Dahar. Built by Berbers around the 12th century at an altitude of 700 meters, Toujane retains a rich cultural heritage that its inhabitants strive to preserve.
HIKING AND TREK IN SOUTHERN TUNISIA PROGRAM
Day 1:

Pick up at your place of stay in Djerba.

Departure towards Tataouine, the capital of the Berber region.

Visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane, one of the many Berber granaries.

Visit of Ksar Beni Barka.

Lunch in a restaurant in Guermassa.

Visit the perched village of Chenini, a must in the region.

Departure for a 2-hour trek in Jebel Dahar from Chenini.

Arrival in the village of Douiret.

Dinner and night in a troglodyte lodge.
Day 2:

Breakfast at the troglodyte lodge.

Departure to reach the oasis of Ksar Ghilane through the desert.

Lunch in a restaurant at the foot of the dunes of Ksar Ghilane.

Optional: Quad or camel ride in the oasis.

Free time to enjoy the oasis.

Transfer by 4x4 to the Saharan camp, located 20 km south of Ksar Ghilane.

Installation at the comfortable camp with Saharan tents, toilets and kitchen.

Witness the ceremony of baking bread in the sand.

Dinner at the camp followed by a walk in the dunes and observation of the starry sky (if the weather is clear).

Overnight in your private tent.
Day 3:

Breakfast at the Saharan camp.

Free time to enjoy the desert.

Departure by 4x4 to Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses and the Star Wars scenes that were filmed there.

Lunch in the village of Tamezret.

Return to Djerba.

Drop off at your place of stay in Djerba at the end of the afternoon.
