A stop at Ksar Hallouf is a must to admire the architecture of the Berber ksour that dot the region. These fortified granaries, with their cells multiple storage, illustrate the ingenuity and the way of life of the Berber populations.

Our journey through the Berber ksour continues with the visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane, a magnificent four-storey Ksar that stands out for its Arabic architecture.
This enchanting place has served as the setting for several scenes in the Star Wars saga.
Thereafter, we head towards the village of Chenini, perched in height and offering an exceptional panorama of the surroundings.

A lunch will be waiting for you in a restaurant in Guermassa where you can savor typical dishes of the region.
Before returning to Djerba, we will make a final stop at ksar of Medenine, once again a setting that inspired the Star Wars universe.

Through this two-day tour, you will have the opportunity to discover the ksour of the Berber region, emblematic villages perched on ridges and steeped in history.
The ksour of Tunisia are granaries used by one or more tribes, and they are mainly located between Matmata and Tataouine, with nearly 150 ksour listed in this area.
These ksour are part of the cultural heritage of the region and bear witness to its historical and sociological evolution. Generally, a ksar has a single entrance protected by a door, except in the case of plain ksour.
These places were spaces for social life, used for meetings, welcoming visitors and trading. The ghorfas, which are storage cells, are arranged around the courtyard of the ksar.
Some ksour, such as Ksar Ouled Soltane, can count up to 440 ghorfas, while the average is between 150 and 200.
Ghorfas are small rooms closed to the exterior, designed to store foodstuffs for long periods of time.
The cereals were stored in the lower part, possibly separated by low walls, while the olives and the cheeses were suspended in the upper part, ventilated by openings in the exterior and interior walls.
During this excursion, you will visit the Ksar Hadada, with its 380 single-storey ghorfas, which served as the setting for the film "Star Wars" in 1999 (Mos Espa - Episode I).
You will also discover the magnificent village of Chenini, perched on a ridge and renowned for its troglodyte dwellings carved into the rock.
A mosque dating from the 13th century stands between the two ridges, adding a historical and architectural touch to this place.
