Duration: 3-5 hours of walking per day

Want to find yourself, be quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life? 

So why not come and relax at the slow pace of camels in the desert?

 

We offer you two days to make you live like a Bedouin nomad, with your dromedary in the Tunisian desert.

 

We will leave early in the morning from your hotel in Djerba, to reach Douz, the gateway to the desert, where we will arrive around 10 am.

Our camel drivers will be waiting for you with everything you need to prepare your meals and set up your bivouac in the desert.

 

After taking control of the mounts, you will leave for your camel trek in the silence of the desert.

 

Your camel drivers will take care of all the logistics, but if you want to participate, you can help them prepare the bivouac.

 

After dinner and a vigil by the fire, you can chat with your camel guides and then you will sleep in a private tent. or under the stars if you prefer.

 

The next day after a good breakfast and the bread baked in the sand, you will resume the hike, after the lunch break, slowly you will return to Douz, where your 4X4 will be waiting for you to take the road to Djerba.

CAMEL RIDING EQUIPMENT LIST


Preparing for a bivouac in the desert requires some planning and preparation. Here is the recommended equipment list for your camel adventure:

  • Clothes: Provide light clothing made of natural fibersForduring the day, as well as warmer clothes for cool evenings.

  • Shoes : Choose lightweight, sand-resistant shoes for your hikes.

  • Sun protection : A hat or cap, a scarf to protect yourself from the sun, wind and sand, sunglasses and high protection sunscreen are essential.

  • Lighting: Do not forget a flashlight or headlamp for evenings and nights.

  • Hygiene : Toilet wipes, toilet paper and a small garbage bag are necessary to keep the environment clean and respect the desert.

  • Sleeping : If you wish, you can bring your own sleeping bag. However, mattresses, sheets, blankets and pillows will be provided.

Properly preparing for a desert bivouac will ensure a more enjoyable and comfortable experience. It is important to respect the desert and to take care not to leave any trace of your passage.

BIVOUAC IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT PROGRAM

Day 1: Djerba > Douz > Desert
 

  • Pick up at your place of stay in Djerba, then transferin Douz.

  • We will meet our Bedouin guides and their camels there.and we will leave for the first stage of our hike backpack camel.

  • After two hours of hiking, lunch break, prepared by the camel driver.

  • Resuming our walk for 3 hours in the white sand dunes.

  • Bivouac, dinner, vigil and night in the desert in private tents. 


Day 2:  Desert > Douz > Djerba
 

  • Breakfast and departure for the return to Douz

  • After 3 hours of hiking, lunch break with the camel driver.

  • Resumption of our walk to find Douz and the 4X4.

  • Return to your place of stay in Djerba
