PROGRAM
Day 1: Zarzis - Douiret - Chenini - Douiret
Our adventure begins early in the morning with a 6am departure from your place of stay in Zarzis.
We will take the Roman road towards Douiret, passing through the beautiful region of Tataouine.
Arrived at Douiret, we begin our trek through the magnificent landscape of Djebel Dahar. After 3h30 of walking, we will reach the picturesque village of Chenini where we will enjoy a local lunch.
In the afternoon, we resume our walk for a 2h30 return to Douiret, passing by the sacred site of the Seven Sleepers.
According to local legend, these seven tombs, more than four meters long, house the bodies of seven Berber men who were immured alive by the Romans and who fell into a deep sleep that lasted more than four centuries.
After a day rich in discoveries, we settle down for the night in a troglodyte lodge where we will enjoy a traditional dinner.
Day 2: Douiret - Chenini - Ksar Guermassa - Zarzis
In the early morning, we take the road again in 4x4 in the direction of Chenini, from where we will begin our second trek of 3h30 towards Ksar Guermassa.
Once arrived in Guermassa, we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch before visiting the Ksar Guermassa, a magnificent example of traditional Berber architecture.
After 1h30 of visit, our 4x4 will be waiting for us for the return trip to Zarzis.
The Berber region of Tataouine, with its stunning landscapes, rich heritage and generous people, offers a truly unique travel experience.

Chenini
Very beautiful site and the most visited located 18 km west of Tataouine, perched on a ridge. you will discover the troglodyte dwellings, built in the rock. The road that leads to Chenini
is of incredible beauty, in a deep gorge, the village appears like a fortified city in ruins, with gigantic caves.
Departure from the village for a 2 hour walk through the hills to reach the village of Douiret
Douiret,
The Berbers built a ksar on the most impregnable site, they used it to store food, oil, barley, wheat, dried figs and dates, olives, for reserve.
Four small ksars had been built, on the mountains which surround Douiret, at the four cardinal points, as advanced surveillance posts.
Douiret is divided into two parts: The old village with its troglodyte dwellings dug into the hills, and the new village located
on the hillside. The old village is made up of small dwellings, called ghiren (plural of ghar meaning cave), which bear the name
family of their owner.
Ksar Guermassa
In Guermassa, the population lived in dug caves
in the soft layers which alternate with the banks of hard rock, on two floors the dwellings sinkin the mountain.
It will take a 4x4 to reach Ksar Guermassa, this Berber village clinging to the hillside.
Take the path that leads in Guermassa is a unique experience.
